There is a version of the aesthetic clinic story that gets told often. A skilled practitioner, a loyal client base, a reputation built treatment by treatment. It is a good story and largely a true one.
What gets told less often is the other story running alongside it. The one about hiring and managing a team, setting prices, choosing software, handling marketing, navigating a regulatory environment that is shifting faster than most industries, and making the kind of strategic decisions that determine whether a business grows or plateaus. That story belongs to the same person.
The UK aesthetic sector is now valued at £3.2 billion and growing at 8.4% a year, according to the ONS Healthcare Services Index. Non-surgical procedures alone grew 14% in 2024. Seven and a half million people had a treatment in 2023. The demand is real, it is sustained, and it is accelerating.
What that growth means in practice is that clinic owners are running increasingly complex businesses. A clinic that opened five years ago with one treatment room and one member of staff looks very different today. The team is larger, the treatment menu wider, the patient expectations higher, and the decisions more consequential.
The people navigating this are not just practitioners who happen to own a business. They are entrepreneurs who have built something skilled and substantial, often without a business school education or a management consultancy on retainer. They have figured it out by doing it.
That combination of clinical expertise and commercial acumen is genuinely rare. It also means that the business decisions these owners make every day are largely invisible to the outside world. Patients see the results. Almost nobody writes about what it took to get there.
That is the gap Bloom exists to fill. We are speaking with clinic owners across the aesthetic, wellness and beauty sector about the business side of what they do: how they have built their teams, how they think about growth, and how the operational side of running a clinic has evolved as the sector has grown. We publish what we learn.
If you run a clinic and would be open to a conversation, we would love to hear from you.
